It’s no secret to anyone in my life that I am shamelessly working to evolve into my final form: a bog witch. My goal in life is to build a cottage in the woods and become the thing the local teenagers tell stories about.

“You know that lady who lives in the woods over there? She killed her husband. He haunts the woods at night, howling and calling her a monster.”

“She’ll put a spell on anyone who trespasses on her land.”

“If you hear her singing, you’re doomed to die in seven days.”

You know, normal girl things.

Anyway, something else I do regularly is take self portraits. It started as a way to work on my confidence, to see myself as beautiful during a time in my life when I very much did not feel beautiful.

So when the Renaissance Faire came to town outside of Atlanta, Georgia, where I live, I realized I could dress up and do an epic bog witch photoshoot. I could be the things in the woods they fear!

I leapt at the opportunity, and this is how the photos turned out…

I’m ridiculously pleased with how they turned out, and, thankfully, I didn’t end up accidentally kneeling in a patch of poison ivy.
