It was a hot and humid summer that weekend in July, and my ADHD and I had the audacity to see if I could write a book in a weekend…
Like Stephen King…
Only without the cocaine.
There was a lot of frantic typing, hours of voice to text dictation, and very little sleep, but a book was born and will soon be coming to Kindle Unlimited!
This is exciting for two reasons. One, I’ve never actually published to Kindle Unlimited before. My previous books have all been published wide, meaning they’re available on Amazon and in major retailers like Barnes & Noble. The second reason this is so exciting is it means I get to open up ARC applications!
If you’re not familiar with the term, an ARC is an Advanced Reader Copy, and authors typically send those out to help drum up press for upcoming releases. It can also help us to get early reviews, so those very first readers don’t have to go in flying blind. They can see exactly what other readers loved, liked, and hated about a book before they decide whether to read it or not.
As for what in the world this book is, Under His Spell is a modern gothic romance inspired by that classic Beauty and the Beast with all the dark romance vibes, an obsessive/possessive MMC who’s absolutely in the morally grey category, a grumpy/sunshine push and pull dynamic, and a delicious slow burn (okay, you only have to wait until Chapter 11 but still… lots of steamy hot build up happening here).
While I’m busy editing and procrastinating editing and staring at my screen thinking about editing… I’ve also got a couple more releases coming up later this year.
A paranormal romance about a bored old vampire who gives a man 11 days to make her fall in love with him. Or she’ll eat him.
And the second in the St. John’s Secrets series where we get to find out all of Alexis’ secrets and why a certain tall dark and sexy detective wants to know them.
Stay tuned for more news, excerpts, and release dates for those!
In the meantime, I’ll be hunkered down over here finishing up the final edits for Under His Spell and occasionally taking breaks to water my garden and myself.
You got me at ‘like Stephen king, only without cocaine’. Made me laugh so hard!
Thank you! I was thinking about him that whole weekend, lol.
Wow what an achievement well done for writing a book in a weekend. i would not know where to start. I have Kindle unlimited so will be looking out for it
Aw, thank you!! I’ll definitely be posting when it’s available and so hope you enjoy reading it!
Ooh. This sounds interesting. I spit out my coffee when I read “Stephen King, only without cocaine”. LOL>
LOL! It’s a very accurate depiction of my weekend. XD
A paranormal romance sounds like a good time! I like the Stephen King vibe.
I LOVE that this is a series. I hate it when stories end, so I always love a trilogy or longer.
Thank you for sharing this. This is very interesting for me. You made my day.
It is such a big achievement to write a book! Well done creating your own content like that.
Thank you so much!
Can’t believe you set yourself this challenge. A whole book in a weekend – amazing feat!
Aw, thank you! I don’t know that I’ll ever do it like that again—I mean, maybe I’ll have a wild hair kinda vibe again one day—because man, it was intense. But it was very fun to see if I could do it!
You’re an awesome writer and super funny and natural. Congrats on writing the book, wow….Super impressive.
Sounds like a really interesting book. And congrats for getting it out and ready for ARCS to go out x
Eeeeppps so happy for you. Been thinking of doing this and courage has been drawing circles around me. Also, “Like Stephen King…Only without the cocaine.” Hahaha. That made me chuckle.
